Long-Term Disability Insurance

Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance provides income protection if you become unable to work due to a prolonged illness or injury.

After one year of service, the University provides LTD insurance for all full-time faculty and staff. This coverage begins after six months of total disability, paying 60% of your covered salary, up to a maximum monthly benefit. This benefit is inclusive of other disability payments you might receive, such as Social Security or Workers' Compensation, meaning the combined total from all sources will not exceed 60% of your salary.

If you had group disability insurance with a previous employer, you may be eligible to waive the one-year waiting period. To apply for this waiver, you must submit a completed Service Waiver form.
