Basic Life and AD&D Insurance
The University provides a death benefit equivalent to an annual base salary (to the next highest $1,000) with a maximum limit of $50,000 for each full-time and part-time member of the faculty and staff aged 64 or younger. This coverage includes accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) provision equal to the amount of life insurance, in the event of accidental death.
For those faculty and staff members aged 65 to 69, life insurance coverage amounts are reduced to 65% of the original benefit amount. At age 70, the amount of life insurance is reduced to 50% of the original benefit amount until retirement or age 75, whichever occurs first. From age 75 on, life insurance coverage is reduced to 35% of the original benefit amount.
